If you are still struggling to customize your brushes, often times other digital illustrators will release "brush packs" that you can download and use for free.
It takes some trial and error to "feel" what brush settings will work for your drawing style. If you double click on the brushes tool, you can select tools that allow you to adjust your brushes pressure, opacity, and size. Then, use one to two "hard" brushes for honing in with more specific details. Try to have one to two "soft" brushes that are a bit more loose and fluid for rough sketching. If you are new to digital painting, I would suggest limiting your brushes to around two to four brushes. At first glance, the brush panel and brush customization tools can seem overwhelming. In order to change the brush color, you can make use of the color picker tool and choose your colors based on saturation, hue, and value. To access the brush tool in Photoshop, you can either select the brush from the tool bar or simply press 'B'.

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful digital drawing and painting tool for artists and illustrators. In general, learning the ins and outs of painting and illustration can strengthen design skills. Although UI/UX design is a different skill set than pure illustration, there is a good deal of overlap between the two fields.
